Mobile coating thickness measurement on plastic parts
With the QuintSonic 7, the Cologne-based company ElektroPhysik achieved a great success in the market of mobile coating thickness gauges. Now users can do without a measuring device completely: The new QuintSonic tablet is directly connected to the sensor and allows the comfortable detection of up to eight polymeric coatings on metal, plastics, wood, glass and ceramics, but also on components made of GFRP or CFRP in a single measuring process.
The intelligent sensor, which contains the measuring electronics, is connected to the industrial tablet by cable. One of the strengths of the tablet, which is also suitable for rough field applications (protection class IP67), is the direct display of colored A-scans on the 10" display, without the need to first transfer the measurement data to a PC. This is a particular advantage for users who already work with the A-scan during measurement, for example to define evaluation ranges.
The measuring principle based on the reflection of ultrasonic waves is well proven and has proven itself for even the most demanding applications in the automotive industry and aircraft construction.
A convenient measurement data management system is already installed on the tablet. All parameter settings required for the measurement can thus be set up conveniently. The creation of measurement series as well as their evaluation and export to various file formats are also supported. It is also possible to save A-scans and to edit them later by changing evaluation parameters such as clipping areas or block areas. In addition to the simple output in text and Excel format, complete measurement reports can be created in PDF format, which also allows the integration of descriptive texts and photos of the measurement object.
The QuintSonic Tablet has, among other things, various wireless interfaces that enable fast communication with networks and peripheral devices. The battery with a capacity of 7500 mAh allows long operating times.
