The 37th Control, the international trade fair for quality assurance, opened its doors in Stuttgart on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, to great interest from the industry. 500 exhibitors, including 180 from abroad, showcased cutting-edge measurement and testing technology in four exhibition halls. The newly launched “Control Quality Talk” on the afternoon of the first day of the trade fair proved to be a highlight, with experts discussing artificial intelligence in quality assurance. The trade fair will run until 09.05.2025.

Prof. Dr. Daniel Carl from the Fraunhofer Institute for Physical Measurement Techniques IPM spoke about “Value creation in measurement technology” at the opening of the trade fair. The presentation focused on the benefits of integrated testing processes and emphasized the avoidance of rejects, the conservation of resources and the gain in precision. Diverse measurement technology can be integrated into an application at various levels – inline, in the machine and in the process. The result is greater efficiency, fewer errors, less waste and safer products.

“The big headline is ‘process improvement’; all manufacturing and processing companies in all sectors are pursuing this goal,” stated Bettina Schall, Managing Director of the trade fair company P. E. Schall, at the opening of the fair. “This year’s Control will provide new impetus in the areas of efficiency, resource conservation and sustainability. We will learn new things about integrated testing processes and artificial intelligence applications. This year, Control will once again bring together experts from all over the world at eye level and give QA technologies a new boost.”

Experts from all over the world will come together over four days in Halls 3, 5, 7 and 9 on 42,000 square meters of exhibition space to discuss modern testing methods and QA measures at a high professional level. The highlight and crowd-puller on the first day of the trade fair proved to be the “Control Quality Talk” panel discussion, which the trade fair organizer launched as a new event format this year. On the topic of “AI in QA – Will the future be error-free? Ira Effenberger, Head of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Vision Research at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA, Dr. Ralf Christoph, Managing Director and owner of Werth Messtechnik, Florian Schwarz, CEO of CAQ AG Factory Systems, Dr. Christian Wojek, Head of AI, Zeiss IQS, and Dr. Timo Bernthaler, Managing Director of Matworks. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Peter Ebert, Editor-in-Chief of the trade journal “inVISION”. The event was filled to capacity and met with a great response from the audience, who took an active and engaged part in the discussion.

“We are delighted with the great interest on the first day of the trade fair and wish all exhibitors, trade visitors and interested guests even more lively and inspiring days at the trade fair with high practical benefits of QS applications for everyday operations,” says trade fair organizer Bettina Schall.”
